ABOUT ME

Varda (they/she) is an Interdisciplinary artist whose work centers around the beauty and complexities of the cultures surrounding them. They are currently pursuing a BA in Global Studies at The New School to connect their passion for art and social justice.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, to Haitian parents, Varda has incorporated Haitian culture's colorful and surreal nature into their creations. Originally as a means of coping with chronic illness at a young age, Art has quickly become Varda's way of living, documentation, and self-expression. Her work explores themes of spirituality, nature, community, and the intricacies surrounding love and masculinity. Unable to be defined to a particular art category, Varda has found an affinity with photography, collages, digital illustration, and painting.
